Community Pharmacy England (CPE) has published a new template designed to support pharmacy owners in formalising their internal processes for data protection complaints process.
The resource, titled Template 11B: Complaints about data protection – process template, is now available on the CPE data security templates hub.
It has been developed to help pharmacies satisfy existing sector expectations alongside new statutory requirements that come into force on 19 June 2026.
CPE’s template privacy notice has also been refreshed to instruct how patients can raise formal data protection complaints or queries.
In practice, community pharmacies have long provided functional routes for patients to voice concerns regarding their personal data.
In the earlier guidance, developed in collaboration with the Community Pharmacy GDPR Working Group and other sector bodies, has previously helped establish a consistent approach to handling data issues across the industry.
Consequently, CPE noted that the upcoming statutory requirements will largely formalise and standardise the data governance practices that many pharmacy teams have already been utilising.
